The mock trial team participates in New York State High School Mock Trial Program. It is an educational program where high school students have the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of civil/criminal law and courtroom procedures. A case is put out every year and the team prepares arguments for the defence and plaintiff to ultimately compete against another team in the tournament. Students can participate as lawyers, witnesses or alternates. Thousands of students participate each year throughout the state. The goal is to teach each student ethics, civility and professionalism; further students’ understanding of the law, court procedures and the legal system.
